Growing up in Calgary, many of Sandra’s earliest memories are of going to sporting events with her dad: Flames, Stampeders, the 1988 Olympics and even the Strikers at the old Mewata Stadium. She also played every sport she could, from soccer and volleyball to basketball and badminton.
Sandra completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Calgary and finished her post-degree journalism studies at Mount Royal University. As a sports broadcaster, she has travelled to three Olympics, a Women’s World Cup, was the play-by-play voice of the Calgary Inferno of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League and had the opportunity to call a few games for Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League.
Sandra currently works in radio as a sportscaster on CityNews and fill-in host on Sportsnet 960. She also lends her voice to United Women’s Soccer broadcasts and greatly supports amplifying women’s sports in any facet.
