Chelsea grew up in Calgary, AB competing in many different sports! She participated in soccer, speed swimming, curling, and was a competitive dancer of pretty much every genre until she was 20 years old. After high school, she received her Bachelor of Commerce (hons) from the University of Manitoba and continued to curl. She is a 3-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts Provincial Champion (2014 - Manitoba, 2016 & 2019 - Alberta) and a 2-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts Canadian champion (2016 & 2019)! We are honored to have this amazing woman as a part of our KidSport Ambassador Team!

We asked Chelsea what sport means in her life:

"I can't possibly describe the importance of sport in my life.  Growing up, I was very lucky that my parents placed a large emphasis on participation in sports.  They took the approach of entering us in a bunch of different ones, and allowing us to decide which we wanted to stick with as the schedules got busier.  I owe so much to sport.  It taught me discipline, team work and interpersonal skills, leadership skills, physical literacy, fitness, and competitive drive, just to name a few.  I've met many of my longest and closest friends through sport.  It has allowed me to travel the world, and has been my primary job for many years.  I wouldn't be who I am today had I not had the opportunity to participate in sport growing up."

Sport shaped my life in such a significant and positive way, I can't stand the thought that some kids may not have that same opportunity and I want to do anything I can to ensure that as many children as possible get a chance to play, regardless of their financial situation or other obstacles.
