Born and raised in Calgary Alberta. Marco grew up in a soccer family and has been an avid soccer player ever since he could walk. To pursue his dream of becoming a professional soccer player, he moved to Vancouver to join the Vancouver Whitecaps youth academy at 14-years-old. Marco signed his first professional contract with the Whitecaps at 17. He has had the privilege to represent Canada at the U17, U20, and U23 levels and captained the U17 national team to the U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates in 2013. He recently moved back to Calgary to join the newly formed Cavalry FC in the Canadian Premier League. From a non-sport perspective, he is currently in progress of completing a business diploma from Thompson Rivers University. He enjoys watching and playing a variety of sports, reading, and spending time with friends and family (he is very family oriented!)
Growing up he was surrounded by sport. His involvement in sport, soccer in particular, was a major factor in shaping who he is today. Sport gave Marco countless memories and lessons, the platform to find his passion, life-lasting relationships, and above all else, the opportunity to live his dream. He was very fortunate to grow up in a situation where he never had to question whether or not he could play sport. Financial constraints were never a thought that crossed his mind; so now he wants to do his part in ensuring that no kid misses out on the chance to play sport and enjoy all the amazing benefits sport provides. Now that he is pursuing his professional soccer career in his hometown he wants to be involved and give back to the community. He was so fortunate to have been given so much, and now he wants to give back as much as he can. He believes that no one should be held back from playing the sport they love.
