Rebecca grew up in a hockey environment, with all 5 of her sibling sharing love for the game. Rebecca Johnston has been a member of the Canadian National Women’s Team since the year 2007. Hockey was her true passion and she knew at a young age that she wanted to play for team Canada during the Olympics and represent her Country. Throughout her career with Hockey Canada, she won 2 gold medals and 7 silver medals at the Women’s World Hockey Championships and she is a 2 time Olympic Gold Medals (2010 & 2014 Olympics) and silver Olympic medalist (2018 Olympics).
Rebecca Johnston graduated with a Degree in Communications from Cornell University in Ithaca NY in 2012 and played hockey for the Cornell Big Red women’s hockey team. She plays for the Calgary Inferno in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League, where she was MVP and Angela James winner (leading scorer) in 2014/2015 season. She recently just won a silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
Rebecca’s highlight of her career was winning a gold medal in the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics. Ever since she was a little girl, playing hockey at the Olympics and representing her country was something she wanted to strive for. The love for the sport is what motivated and pushed her to accomplish her goal of someday representing her country at the Olympics.
Sports has always been a big part of Rebecca's life so she believes strongly in Team KidSport's mission to get kids off the sidelines and experience the benefits of organized sport.
