Grace Dafoe describes herself as “Human, Athlete, and Community leader”

She is born and raised in Calgary, and continues to call Calgary home. A graduate of the Health & Physical Education Program at Mount Royal University, she stumbled upon the sport of skeleton during her 2nd year of university, and hasn’t looked back since. She says the call to try skeleton was “serendipitous” and has gone on to represent Canada in over 30 international races. She is a proud member of the National Skeleton Team, and also holds the position as the Athletes Representative on the Alberta Skeleton Board.

She has worked in various capacities in sport & recreation in Calgary, and most recently, has since taken a position at the Non-Profit Classroom Champions (link to classroomchampions.org). With a strong interest in mentorship, sport & education, it was an easy yes to join an organization with a high performance mindset that is out to make the world a better place.

Grace is lucky to have a second shot at competitive sport, and recognizes that a split second decision to slide down an icy chute has changed the trajectory of her life in the best way possible. This second shot is all about leaving a legacy for youth in sport, which includes her work with the Kidsport Calgary Ambassador Team. Being able to be a part of the ambassador team has instilled her belief that sport can be a vehicle for inspiration & good, and she enjoys volunteering for an organization that directly impacts the community she grew up in.

[16
