Since 2021, the number of grant applications received by KidSport Edmonton has grown each year. With a\u00a0projected 20% increase in grant applications in 2025, KidSport Edmonton anticipates an increase of over 850 new applications in 2025, which would require an additional $210,000+ in funding\u00a0to meet demand. Grants like this one play a key role in helping bridge that gap.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1807\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/117\/RCC_BFK_Logo_RGB-002-800x624.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"88\" height=\"69\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/117\/RCC_BFK_Logo_RGB-002-800x624.png 800w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/117\/RCC_BFK_Logo_RGB-002-768x599.png 768w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/117\/RCC_BFK_Logo_RGB-002-15x12.png 15w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/117\/RCC_BFK_Logo_RGB-002.png 910w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 88px) 100vw, 88px\" \/>We are proud to include this funding in our Birdies for Kids\u00a0campaign. As a qualified charitable partner of Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink, KidSport Edmonton donations and funds are eligible to receive up to 50% in matching funds, further amplifying the reach and impact of this grant.<\/p>\n<h5>The Need to Create Equal Access<\/h5>\n<p>Supporting equity in sport access is more important than ever. According to the 2022 Parent Survey of Physical Activity and Sport Participation by the Canadian Fitness and Lifestyle Research Institute, only 19% of youth from lower-income households participated primarily in competitive sport\u2014compared to 34% from higher-income households. Additionally, youth from lower-income families are more likely to participate in sport for just 1\u20135 months per year, compared to year-round participation in more affluent households.<\/p>\n<p>At KidSport Edmonton, we believe no child should be left behind. In 2024 we actively worked with over 430 local sport clubs and schools\u00a0to offer KidSport kids access to more than 43 different sport options\u2014from hockey and soccer to gymnastics, wrestling, and more.
