Edmonton \u2014 November 24, 2025 \u2014<\/strong> KidSport Edmonton is proud to announce the launch of our local initiative in the 14th annual Give the Gift of Sport campaign, running nationwide from November 24, 2025, to January 4, 2026. All 176 KidSport community chapters support this national campaign. The campaign encourages Canadians to make a meaningful difference this holiday season by helping break down financial barriers for children seeking to play organised sport in 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, KidSport aims once again to raise $1 million nationally through the generous support of donors and corporate partners, and KidSport Edmonton has a local goal to raise $20,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAt KidSport, we envision a Canada where all children have the opportunity to participate in sport,\u201d said Greg Ingalls, CEO of KidSport Canada. \u201cWe believe sport is a powerful tool for social development\u2014one that teaches life lessons and can change the course of a child\u2019s life. Your support of our Give the Gift of Sport campaign is an investment in the future of children in your community.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2024, the Give the Gift of Sport campaign exceeded its $1 million goal, raising an incredible $1,457,760. With an average donation of $300 covering the cost of one child\u2019s season of sport, every contribution has a lasting impact well beyond the holiday season.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2024 calendar year marked another record-breaking year for KidSport, with $15 million raised and over 40,000 children supported across the country. Locally, KidSport Edmonton also had a record-breaking year, subsidizing over $1M in sport registration fees and supporting 4,370 local KidSport Kids access sport programs. <\/span><\/p>\n

This year, KidSport invites Canadians to once again \u201cGive the Gift of Sport\u201d and help make #EveryPlayCount for kids nationwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

KidSport Edmonton is a local not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance to children aged 18 and under, by subsidizing sport registration fees for eligible families. Through a confidential application process, grants are provided to subsidize sport registration fees and equipment costs, ensuring every child has the chance to play. <\/span><\/p>\n
