\n\t\tQu\u2019est-ce qu\u2019une subvention?\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

KidSport provides grants to kids from families facing financial barriers so they can participate in registered sport programs and experience the lifelong benefits of a season of sport. KidSport Lac La Biche provides grants of up to $500 per eligible child, per year (January 1st – December 31st) towards sport registration fees.<\/p>\n

Families who qualify for the Alberta Child and Family Benefit are eligible for KidSport funding.\u00a0 The Alberta Child and Family Benefit sets the limit at $76,000 family income.<\/p>\n

Que dois-je faire pour demander une subvention?<\/h3>\n\t

1. Find a sport program your kid would like to join and sign up. Let the program’s administrators know you will be applying for KidSport funding.<\/p>\n

2. Cliquez ici<\/a> to find your local KidSport Chapter, or see if you are covered by the provincial fund.<\/p>\n

3. Apply online or use the paper application form.\u00a0 Paper applications are available at the Bold Centre front desk or downloadable from here.\u00a0 \u00a0You can also have an application emailed or mailed to you.<\/p>\n

4. Be sure to complete all sections of the application, as incomplete applications take much longer to process, and can cause delays in receiving your grant.<\/p>\n

4. Your completed application must include supporting documents showing you are eligible for the Alberta Child and Family Benefits.<\/p>\n

5. The application will be processed within 30 days of being received. If you qualify for KidSport funding, the grant will be sent directly to the sport program your kid has signed up for.<\/p>\n

KidSport grants cover the cost of sport registration fees for qualified families. Grants are intended to remove financial barriers to sport programs, and so cannot be applied to equipment, transportation, or tournament fees.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tQuels sports sont admissibles?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t

KidSport Lac la Biche provides support for kids registered in programs that provide a sustained sport experience (6+ weeks in duration), are taught by qualified instructors, and meet Sport Canada’s definition of a sport. Sport Canada defines a sport as an activity that involves two or more participants engaging in a competition. It involves formal rules and procedures, and requires tactics and strategies, neuromuscular skills and a high degree of difficulty, risk and effort. Programs that are required in order to attain a competitive level (i.e. swim lessons) are also eligible for funding. Transportation costs, competition fees, and equipment fees are not eligible for funding.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhat communities are covered by KidSport Lac La Biche?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t

You must register your kid in a sports program prior to applying for KidSport funding. Each program is different, but many do require that KidSport funding be received prior to the program’s start date. You should apply for a KidSport grant as soon as possible after your kid has been registered, as it can sometimes take up to 30 days for applications to be processed.<\/p>\n
