We know Albertans have been missing out on sport, physical activity, and recreation due to the pandemic. The Return to Play Grant is designed to provide financial support\u00a0to organizations that will facilitate Alberta’s youth\u00a0(age 18 and under), families\u00a0and individuals with disabilities’\u00a0return to being physically active in their communities!<\/p>\n
The opportunity is funded by the Government of Alberta, which recognizes that sport, physical activity, and recreation activities\u00a0are essential to an individual’s\u00a0physical, mental, and social well-being.\u00a0This inclusive grant program supports community-based organizations in reducing barriers to help ensure\u00a0youth (age 18 and under)\u00a0and individuals with disabilities\u00a0in Alberta can access opportunities that match their individual needs.<\/p>\n

Click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation<\/a> Return to Play Grant was created to provide financial support to sport, physical activity, and recreation organizations located in Alberta to assist with the costs of developing and delivering community-level programming and programming that serves persons with disabilities, acknowledging their unique challenges in returning to play.<\/p>\n We know Albertans have been missing out on sport, physical activity and recreation due to the pandemic and we are thrilled to help organizations in getting our community to return to play!<\/p>\n KidSport Alberta<\/a> and the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA)<\/a>\u00a0 have collaborated to establish grant guidelines and assessment processes to facilitate funding to non-profit organizations in Alberta. Applications will be received by KidSport Alberta or ARPA and will be reviewed and assessed. KidSport will be looking after all Sport Organization applications and ARPA will be responsible for Physical Activity and Recreation Organization applications. The maximum grant amount available to apply for is $15,000 per organization. Uniforms must remain property of the organization at the end of the program’s season of play and cannot be retained by the participant.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhat are common reasons applications are unsuccessful?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t Unsuccessful applicants did not demonstrate financial need in their application, a plan and strategy to optimize the return to sport, physical activity or recreation.<\/p>\n Your organization may not have been eligible to apply, your application was not complete, or your application was submitted past the deadline.<\/p>\n Your application did not provide enough information for the review panel to make an informed decision.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhat happens after my application is submitted?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t Applications will be reviewed to ensure that the applicant is eligible and the submission is complete. Follow-up will occur for ineligible or incomplete applications. Review panels will assess applications against the supplied information and the grant eligibility criteria to determine if applicant is successful or not and the amount of the funding that will be granted.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tIf my application is unsuccessful, can I apply again later?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t At this point, the program is a one-time initiative.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tCan I mail in my grant application or does it need to be submitted electronically?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t All applications must be completed electronically. If there are challenges in completing your application, please contact for sport enquiries: returntoplay@kidsport.ab.ca<\/a> physical activity or recreation enquiries: returntoplay@arpaonline.ca<\/a><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tIf my application is successful, can I use funding for expenses incurred prior to the application submission.<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t Unfortunately no, eligible expenses can be claimed if they were incurred after June 1, 2022.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhat is the possible funding amount?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t Non-profit organizations and for profit organizations will be eligible for up to $15,000.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhen will I find out about my application outcome?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t All applicants will be notified of their status prior to September 30, 2022.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhat happens if my program\/activity is cancelled due to COVID public health restrictions being put in place?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t The funds can be used for a program postponement for any time in the next 12 months.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhen and how will I receive funding if my application is successful?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t Sport Organization applicants will receive funding directly from KidSport Alberta via E-transfer by October 28, 2022.<\/p>\n Physical Activity and Recreation Organization applicants will receive funding directly from Alberta Recreation Parks Association via cheque by October 28, 2022.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tHow long do we have to spend the funds?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t Organizations will have one calendar year from the time that they receive funds to spend them on approved expenditures.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWill there be any type of grant reporting required?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t Yes.
