The Dirt Cup, organized by IWC Excavation and Knappett Industries, is an annual event that sees Team IWCE and Team Knappett face off in a family-friendly hockey game to raise much-needed funds for local youth-focused charities in Nanaimo.
KidSport Nanaimo is proud to be one of the charities of choice for this event. Funds raised also support three other outstanding Nanaimo-area organizations: Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation, Nanaimo Child Development Centre, and Nanaimo-Ladysmith Schools Foundation. Together, these organizations are making a meaningful difference for children and families in the community.
Since its launch in 2023, the Dirt Cup has raised an incredible $230,000. This year they’re aiming to raise $150,000 to support these incredible causes.
The funds raised for KidSport Nanaimo help to fund sport registration grants for kids from families facing financial barriers to sport so ALL kids can play! Last year, the local KidSport chapter, which is completely volunteer run, funded a season of sport for 214 kids totaling more than $66,000 in grants.
We are grateful to IWC Excavation and Knappett Industries for their ongoing support through the Dirt Cup! Let’s make the 2026 event one to remember!
