The Kick-Off For KidSport event recently concluded with tremendous success, raising just over $12,000 to support KidSport Manitoba’s mission of providing financial assistance to help kids participate in organized sports. This peer-to-peer fundraiser saw individuals, teams, and businesses coming together from April 22 to May 19, rallying their networks to donate to this worthy cause.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who fundraised, donated, and promoted the event. Your generosity and enthusiasm are what made this event such a success. We are especially grateful to KidSport Manitoba’s Football Champions, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, for their continued support.
Four representatives from our top five fundraisers, Johnson Group, Payworks, Play Hockey, and Luke Meadows-Birch – Real Versus Royal Charity Golf Night, were given a unique opportunity as a reward for their exceptional efforts. These dedicated individuals were invited to compete in an on-field challenge at Princess Auto Stadium during halftime of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ pre-season game on May 31st. In addition to participating in the on-field challenge, these top fundraisers were treated to an unforgettable experience: watching the second quarter from behind the Blue Bombers bench. This sideline view gave them a front-row seat to witness Chris Smith’s electrifying 109-yard punt return for a touchdown, a moment that thrilled the crowd and left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to be so close to the action. A special thanks to the APHA U11 Winter Hawks Blue, one of our top five fundraisers, who were not able to make it the day of the game.
Participants in the on-field challenge expressed that the experience was like no other. The chance to be on the field and so close to the Blue Bombers players during an actual game was both exhilarating and inspiring. It was a testament to the power of sports to bring people together and create memorable moments.
