Fundraiser to help more kids get into the game
Kickoff for KidSport
Kickoff for KidSport is a peer-to-peer fundraiser that challenges all Manitobans to help get more kids off the sidelines and into the game. Sign up as an individual or team to raise money for our charity while earning the opportunity to win great prizes and ultimately be crowned the Kickoff for KidSport champion.
There are five fundraising tiers that range between $25 – $1,000, and each participant has the chance to win the prize for their tier.
The top prize for the top fundraisers is the chance to kick a field goal, in the stadium at IG Field on June 2nd, at halftime during the Bombers first at-home preseason game.
Football Champions
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are long-standing supporters of the community both on and off the field. The club’s community programs focus on youth and address key areas including youth football, education, and leading healthy, active lives.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are also continuing their role in KidSport’s Corporate Champion Program as the official sponsor of football grants in Manitoba.
So All Kids Can Play
Part of working towards our goal of ensuring that all kids have the chance to play, is having the funding available to administer grants. Last year, 369 kids from across the province received KidSport grants to play football or soccer. Soccer is the highest funded sport in Manitoba and Football is the fourth highest funded sport in Manitoba. Together in 2022 they made up 30% of the approved grants across all sports. With the rising cost of sport and the financial strains many families are experiencing due to inflation, KidSport anticipates the requests for funding will increase over the next year.
With the continued support of the Winnipeg Football club through both the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Valor FC, KidSport can strive to meet the growing demand.
Benefits of Organized Sports
KidSport believes all kids should have the opportunity to develop healthy lifestyles, no matter the financial barriers that may exist. Staying physically active helps encourage children to maintain healthy habits throughout their whole lives. The challenges that come with playing sports also teach children valuable life lessons and skills including leadership, dedication and self-confidence. Through the power of organized sport, we enable kids and our communities to come together and thrive.
KidSport is a national not-for-profit organization. Its provincial and regional chapters provide financial assistance for registration fees so that all kids aged 18 and under can play a season of sport. In 2022, KidSport Manitoba granted over $400,000 to 1,312 kids from 75 communities across the province.
