KidSport provides grants to kids from families facing financial barriers so they can participate in registered sport programs and experience the lifelong benefits of a season of sport. KidSport Northwest Territories provides grants of up to $500 per eligible kid, per year (January 1st – December 31st) towards sport registration fees.<\/p>\n
Grants are intended to be used for sport registration fees; travel and competitions are not eligible for funding.<\/p>\n\t
KidSport Northwest Territories uses the following eligibility requirements to determine financial eligibility for sport grants.<\/p>\n
If you are unsure of your eligibility to receive a grant, please reach out to tylerrent@sportnorth.com<\/a><\/p>\n\t Through the Community Equipment Grant (CEG), KidSport NWT provides grants ranging from $500 to $2,000. The CEG supports community organizations in their efforts to increase participation in sport. The fund will support projects that are intended to increase sustainable, quality participation-based sport programs by helping to offset the cost of sport equipment. This may include new programs or the expansion of existing programs.<\/p>\n Through this project, KidSport NWT hopes to encourage communities\/schools to strengthen their physical education curriculum with the purchase of equipment that supports their programming needs. Since 1993, we have helped nearly 1 million kids off the sidelines and into a season of sport!<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhat does a KidSport grant cover?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t KidSport grants cover the cost of sport registration fees for qualified families. Grants are intended to remove financial barriers to sport programs, and so can\/cannot be applied to equipment, transportation, or tournament fees.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhat sports are eligible?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t Please include your chapter’s sports eligibility information here. Communities that do not yet have a KidSport chapter are covered by the KidSport Northwest Territories Provincial Fund. Not sure where to apply? Click the drop-down menu at the top of the screen to see a list of our chapters.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhen is the deadline to apply?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t You must register your kid in a sports program prior to applying for KidSport funding. Each program is different, but many do require that KidSport funding be received prior to the program’s start date. You should apply for a KidSport grant as soon as possible after your kid has been registered, as it can sometimes take up to 30 days for applications to be processed.<\/p>\n KidSport grants cannot be applied to programs that have already ended.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tHow will I know if the application has been approved?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t If you have applied online, you will be sent an automatic, system-generated email with your approval information.<\/p>\n If you have applied offline (in-person, through an emailed PDF form, or through a printed form), you must include your email address in order to receive confirmation of your approval.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tHow do I demonstrate financial eligibility?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t Your Proof of Income Statement can be accessed through CRA My Account<\/a><\/p>\n We strongly recommend this option, as it is free, and the fastest way to obtain your statement.<\/p>\n You may also request your statement by mail.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhat if the child lives outside of the area we cover?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t If your family lives outside of the area we cover, you can apply to the KidSport Provincial Fund. The provincial fund works like a big chapter, and covers all communities that do not already have a KidSport chapter.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tIs my information kept private and confidential?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t Yes, all your personal information will be stored securely and destroyed once appropriate.
