\n\t\t\tWhat is a Grant?\t<\/h2>\n\t

KidSport provides grants to kids (18 years old or younger) from families facing financial barriers so they can participate in a registered sport program and experience the lifelong benefits of a season of sport. KidSport Nova Scotia provides grants of up to $500 per eligible kid<\/strong>, per year (January 1st – December 31st) towards sport registration and equipment fees.<\/p>\n

If the child needs equipment, we will provide a voucher so you can get the right gear from our equipment partner Cleve’s and Rudderham’s Source for Sports locations across Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n

Please note the following before applying:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Each child is eligible to receive one grant to assist with the cost of one sport per calendar year.<\/li>\n
  2. Grants are intended to be used for one season of sport registration and equipment fees only for multi-week, coach led sport programs that are organized and run by Sport Clubs\/Organizations in good standing with their Provincial Sport Organization.<\/li>\n
  3. The following activities are not eligible for grants: summer camps, elite\/travel teams not associated with the PSO, private coaching, travel and tournament\/competition fees, gym memberships, ski hill passes, swimming lessons, dance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\t

    Eligibility Requirements<\/h3>\n\t

    KidSport Nova Scotia uses a CRA Notice of Assessment <\/b>as the primary document to determine financial eligibility for grants. Please attach the most recent tax year CRA Notice of Assessment for all parents\/guardians in the household to your application.<\/p>\n

    In addition to CRA Notice of Assessment, we also accept the following documents to determine financial eligibility for grants:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Social Income Assistance Statement,<\/strong><\/li>\n
    2. Endorsement from the Department of Community Services, or<\/b><\/li>\n
    3. Endorsement from Indigenous Social Development<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      If applying using a CRA Notice of Assessment (one for each parent\/guardian in the household) please ensure your total income (line 15000) does not exceed the cut offs listed below for your family size*:<\/p>\n

      2 person family – $39,721<\/p>\n

      3 person family – $48,832<\/p>\n

      4 person family – $59,288<\/p>\n

      5 person family – $67,244<\/p>\n

      6 person family – $75,839<\/p>\n

      7 person family or more – $84,436<\/p>\n*To calculate family size count the number of parent or parents in the household plus the number of children 18 years or younger Example:
      \n2 person family = 1 parent + 1 child.
      \n3 person family = 1 parent + 2 children OR 2 parents + 1 child\n\t

      How Do I Apply?<\/h3>\n\t
        \n
      1. Find a sport program your kid would like to join and sign up. Let the program’s administrators know you will be applying for KidSport funding. To view a list of eligible sport programs please click HERE.<\/a> Please note that dance, swimming lessons, ski hill passes, tournament fees, competition fees, summer camps and travel fees are not eligible for funding.<\/li>\n
      2. Click HERE<\/a> to find your local KidSport Nova Scotia Chapter, or if you are unsure you may apply through the provincial fund<\/li>\n
      3. Apply online or use the paper application form – be sure to complete all sections of the application, as incomplete applications take much longer to process, and can cause delays in receiving your grant.<\/li>\n
      4. Your completed application will be processed within 30 days of the deadline you’re applying for.<\/li>\n
      5. Our application deadlines are the first working day in the month.<\/li>\n
      6. If you qualify for KidSport funding, you will receive an approval email, the grant will be sent directly to the sport program, and equipment vouchers will be emailed to you. To see the voucher guidelines, please click HERE.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
