Gloria Whalen was a loving wife and mother to her three wonderful children.  She attended school at Vernon River Consolidated and high school in Montague.  She received a BSc from St. FX University and a Master’s degree from Mount St Vincent.  During her many years as a physical education instructor, she worked with many young athletes at Belfast Consolidated and West Royalty Elementary School and was always on the bench to support their efforts and successes.  Her skill as an athlete was evident in several sports including speedskating, volleyball, soccer, basketball and hockey.  She will be missed by her many close friends from her teaching career and from the sports she participated in.

KidSport believes that every child should have the opportunity to experience the joys of a season of sport.  That’s why we provide grants to kids from families facing financial difficulties to ensure no kid i ever left  watching from the sidelines.  Donations made on this page will support KidSport PEI in Gloria’s memory – So All Kids Can Play!

The seventh annual Glenn Edison Memorial Golf Tournament was held at Eagles Glenn Golf Course in Cavendish on July 16th. The tournament featured 131 golfers, a silent auction, and many donations from generous organizations. Overall, the tournament raised $6,069 for KidSport this year (and their biggest year yet)! Because of this donation, at least 10 more PEI kids will be able to experience a season of sport.

That raises the tournament’s all-time donation total to $29,572.16.We can’t thank the tournament organizers enough for all their hard work!! This is an incredible tournament in memory of a great man who truly believed in the power of sport. We were so pleased to take part once again this year. Hearing about Glenn and his values from his family and friends make us at KidSport so proud of what we do. We are extremely grateful for the generosity of the organizers, golfers, donors, sponsors, volunteers, and Eagles Glenn golf course! Thank you!

This fundraiser has helped over 85 kids experience a season of sport over the past 8 years! Thank you for having us and we can’t wait for next year!!

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Dairy Farmers of PEI is excited to announce a major partnership with Sport PEI, providing the organization with funding to help Island youth access the power of sport through KidSport.

A fixed annual contribution will ensure that Island athletes can participate in the sports they love through the KidSport program. In addition, Dairy Farmers of PEI will be the principal presenter of the all-new Scores! for KidSport program. For every goal scored by the Charlottetown Islanders (QMJHL), Summerside Western Capitals (MHL), and UPEI Men’s and Women’s HockeyTeams (USports) during the 2021-2022 season, Dairy Farmers of PEI will donate $10 to KidSport.

“We couldn’t be prouder to support Sport PEI and KidSport for the upcoming sports season. This initiative aligns perfectly with our belief in supporting members of our Island community,” said Gordon MacBeath, Dairy Farmers of PEI Chairman of the Board. “Dairy farmers have a rich history of sport involvement and it brings us great pride to be able to pass that along to other Islanders.”

“We are very excited to be partnering with the Dairy Farmers of PEI to support Island youth participating in sport,” said Gemma Koughan, Executive Director for Sport PEI. “Dairy Farmers of PEI represents and supports the 157 dairy producers across Prince Edward Island as they bring high-quality Island dairy from farm to table. Our organizations both strive to support Islander’s health and wellness through our various initiatives. With partners like the Dairy Farmers of PEI, KidSport PEI can help to ensure that Island kids have the opportunity to discover the joy of sport.”

Daryl K. “Doc” Seaman has been described as a hero, icon, pioneer, philanthropist, visionary and legend.

On the list of his many achievements, he was an original owner of the Calgary Flames and was instrumental in bringing them to Calgary in 1980. Among his many accomplishments, Doc was also known for his wartime experiences as a World War II pilot, and for his civic contribution as a member of the Royal Commission on Economic Union and Development Prospects for Canada, 1982-1985. Doc received two honorary Doctor of Laws degrees and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada. His philanthropic giving ranged from supporting medical education to funding entrepreneurial initiatives. Doc’s love for ranching, hockey and sports, and his dedication to community will leave a lasting legacy for years to come.

The legacy of legendary philanthropist Doc Seaman lives on through the Daryl K. Seaman Canadian Hockey Fund, an endowment fund administered by Calgary Foundation.

Thanks to the $30,000 grant from the Daryl K. Seaman fund, KidSport PEI will be able to help more than 100 PEI kids play a season of sport. We can’t thank them enough for their generosity and for allowing us to continue to help more kids play sports. We will continue working, So ALL Kids Can Play.
