I am 15 years old and I was funded through the KidSport program when I was younger. My mom was a basketball player and she wanted me to learn how to play as well so she got me involved with the RCBA program. She wanted me to get out there and have fun and make new friends.
I prefer playing on team sports such as baseball and basketball as I love the team aspect of sport. I love communicating with others and developing skills every day. I like to give help and receive it. Team bonding is very very important to me. Sport has taught me so many skills which relay in real life. For example, what I have learned in sport has helped me with finding a job. The skills are the same with sport and working – teamwork goes hand in hand. A team effort is so important in life. If I didn’t get involved in sport I would be closed off. Not necessarily meaning I would make bad decisions, but I have learned how to have more fun and not be closed off.
I am not sure if donors to KidSport realize or see the impact they make by donating time, energy or money to the KidSport program. I would like to tell you that you are making a difference in children’s lives – you have opened up many children’s eyes and given them an opportunity to be on a team which is an amazing opportunity for them.
