KidSport has launched their 10th annual Give the Gift of Sport national fundraising campaign.

More than 30 per cent of Canadian youth under the age of 18 cannot afford to play organized sport. With the support of donors and partners across the country, KidSport’s annual campaign—running until January 4, 2022—aims to get more kids off the sidelines, into the game, and experience the gift of sport. In Saskatchewan, the campaign aims to raise enough funds to allow 500 more children in communities throughout the province the opportunity to participate in sport in the new year.

Saskatchewan supporters can donate to Give the Gift of Sport any time during the campaign at kidsportsask.ca. Or, on November 30, they can double the value of their donation during KidSport Saskatchewan’s Giving Tuesday Radio Day. Thanks to KidSport partner Canada Life, all donations received on the day will be matched up to $15,000. The Radio Day will run on Regina’s Play 92.1 and 620 CKRM and Saskatoon’s 96.3 CRUZ FM stations and will include KidSport Ambassadors Brett Lauther of the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation and Emmarae Dale of the Saskatoon Hilltops asking donors to text to donate throughout the day.

The power of sport is in how it shapes us in those special moments – in the memories cherished today and stories told tomorrow. It nurtures our growth and strengthens our communities.

“Sport has been the driving factor in shaping who I am, it has taught me all sorts of life skills and gave me the confidence to set goals and dream big when I was a kid,” adds Canadian race walker and 2020 Olympic bronze medallist Evan Dunfee. “KidSport believes that every child should have that same opportunity and help remove the financial barriers to make that happen.”

Donors can help bring the power of sport Full Circle and Give the Gift of Sport at kidsportsask.ca where personal, corporate or tribute donations can be directed to any of KidSport Saskatchewan’s 41 local chapters.
