Helping More Saskatchewan Youth Participate in Sport
SASKATOON (December 7, 2021) — Even more Saskatchewan youth will be able to participate in sport this year thanks to a new natural gas BBQ draw sponsored by the SaskEnergy Network as part of the Goals for KidSport Program.
Now in its eighth season, Goals for KidSport is a partnership between SaskEnergy Network members, KidSport Saskatchewan, and the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). The program helps youth participate in sport by reducing the financial barriers to accessing sport activities.
As part of the program, for every home goal scored by an SJHL team (up to 1,000), $20 is donated through the SaskEnergy Network to KidSport chapters across the SJHL community.
“Our league is extremely proud to partner with SaskEnergy and its Network members to raise funds and awareness for KidSport,” SJHL President Bill Chow said. “This is another way our league gives back to the communities where we play.”
New this year, the Goals for KidSport Program has launched a natural gas BBQ draw sponsored by the SaskEnergy Network. For every $20 donation made to KidSport at kidsportdonations.ca, between October 1, 2021 and February 14, 2022, donors will be automatically entered to win a natural gas BBQ, including installation, from a local SaskEnergy Network Member. Full contest details are available online.
“SaskEnergy is proud of the Goals for KidSport partnership and the work our organizations have done to give more and more Saskatchewan kids the chance to participate in sport,” said SaskEnergy President & CEO Ken From. “The partnership also celebrates volunteer champions and creates economic opportunities for business in SJHL communities throughout Saskatchewan.”
Goals for KidSport was created in 2014 to build on previous successful SaskEnergy-initiated programs, including Catch for KidSport that started in 1998, and later, the Saskatchewan Roughriders Charity Calendar.
Over the last 20 years these programs have collectively raised more than $1.3 million, providing more than 7,000 Saskatchewan kids with the opportunity to participate in sport.
