Thanks to a $2500 courtesy of the FCC Regina Spirit Fund, KidSport Regina will be delivering nearly 200 football and soccer balls to some already chosen deserving kids.<\/p>\n
Joining in the physically distanced delivery will be members of the Regina City Police and Regina Fire & Protective Services, as well as volunteer board members for KidSport Regina. Recipients of the balls will be participants in the Dream Broker program. The program helps connect children to sport, culture and recreation activities in the city.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, we\u2019ve seen how important activity is for kids,\u201d said KidSport Regina chair Will McGee. \u201cMany of the kids in our communities do not have access to their own sport equipment and this grant from the FCC Regina Spirit Fund allows us to give them a chance to be active and help with mental wellbeing.\u201d<\/p>\n
All children who receive a ball will be treated to a virtual training session from friends of KidSport, Makana Henry and Brett Levis. Henry, a defensive lineman for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Levis, one of the first Saskatchewan-born athletes to suit up in a Major League Soccer game, who has been an ambassador since 2019.<\/p>\n
