Government of Saskatchewan Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport, Laura Ross, proclaimed May as KidSport Month in Saskatchewan. The month-long celebration of the children\u2019s charity, which will feature events, fundraisers and celebrations, began today with a kickoff event at Kitchener Community School.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSport and recreation plays such an important role in the health and well-being of our children and youth,\u201d Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross said. \u201cSport helps children in all aspects of life and has positive effects on both their mental and physical development. We want to thank KidSport for allowing children in our province to participate by assisting with financial barriers.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the kickoff event, 60 students listened to Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation KidSport Ambassador Brett Lauther speak about the importance of sport. The kids had the opportunity to play games with athletes from the University of Regina Cougars women\u2019s hockey team and women\u2019s soccer team.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
