Shelley was asked to be involved with KidSport Carlyle from the beginning. When the Chapter was first launching, the committee wanted a connection to the schools and who better than a teacher who had those ties?<\/p>\n
Shelley\u2019s journey in sports began at a young age. Her parents recognized the importance of staying active and encouraged their children to try a variety of sports. Once becoming a teacher she wanted to give back to the sport community. She began coaching and continues to coach track to this day.<\/p>\n
She reflected there isn\u2019t really just one moment in volunteering for KidSport that really stands out as it has all been meaningful. She has a lot of great memories of fundraisers put on by their committee, and the community support behind them.<\/p>\n
\u201cVolunteering is important as it is a great way to support and give back to your community,\u201d Shelley says. Having a KidSport Chapter in Carlyle for all these years has been invaluable to the local sport organizations. They appreciate knowing that families needing the help have a way to ensure their children will be able to participate in sports.<\/p>\n
Her message to others, \u201cGet Involved,\u2019 Shelley encourages, \u201cvolunteering with KidSport is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of kids and families.\u201d<\/p>\n
