KidSport Nova Scotia is extremely honored to announce we have been selected as a grant recipient for the prestigious Daryl K. Seaman Canadian Hockey Fund at the Calgary Foundation. The $21,000 contribution will help KidSport offset sport registration and equipment fees for new Canadian families facing financial barriers to sport participation.
“Sport participation puts children and youth on a positive life course developing a wide range of skills and attitudes including teamwork, communication, leadership, problem solving, self-discipline and self confidence. Our goal with this grant is to support new Canadian children as there is increasing evidence that sport can create a welcoming environment for new citizens and help integrate them into their community” said Colin Gillis, Coordinator for KidSport Nova Scotia.
In 2020, KidSport Nova Scotia granted out over $323,000 to help 1,144 children participate in sport, so the incredible support from the Daryl K. Seaman Fund will directly impact at least 70 new Canadian children across the province.
