Bob grew up in St. John’s, Newfoundland where sports became an important part of his life from a very early age. He started playing minor hockey and baseball, and quickly realized he had a love for all sports and the opportunities they offered him. Bob has participated in provincial, regional, and national sporting events in every province in Canada. In baseball he represented NL at the 1981 Canada Summer Games and the 1982 Senior Men’s Championship. In volleyball he represented NL at the 1979 Canada Winter Games and Memorial University at the 1982 U-Sports Men’s Championship.
In his final year with Memorial University Bob was named the Most Valuable Player for the AUAA and a member of the 1983-84 All Canadian Volleyball Team by the Canadian University Coaches Association.
Bob has been a coach and administrator in hockey, volleyball, baseball, and soccer for over 40 years. During this time he recognized the importance sport has on the growth and development of our youth. As an educator he has seen the financial challenge some children face being able to participate in sport. This encouraged him to become involved in the Glenn Edison Memorial Golf Tournament which he has co-chaired since 2015. In six years this tournament has raised over $17,000 for KidSport PEI.
Bob is honoured to be a Community Ambassador for KidSport PEI.
