KidSport Calgary hit a huge milestone this week, and in record time, no less. They funded their 1000th kid of the year to play sports on February 27th, marking the earliest they have ever hit such a large number.
“It’s only Feb 27th and we have already hit 1000 kids funded with KidSport assistance to play sports this year. This is the quickest we have ever hit this great milestone in a year. We are so glad to see families ready to get their kids back to sport and we are so proud to be able to be here to support low-income families in our community to ensure that is possible.” said Kevin Webster, CEO of KidSport Calgary.
In 2019, pre-pandemic, KidSport Calgary had funded just 821 kids as of the same date, proving how important the return to sport has been to families as life returns to some semblance of normalcy.
Kevin gives the biggest credit to the community for helping KidSport Calgary achieve this record number: “Over $5,600 community raised dollars are going out the door every day, with 17 kids per day on average receiving the Gift of Sport across 48 different sports and with funds going back into our sport community through 276 local sport clubs so far in 2023. What a great way to get the year started as we once again mobilize our great community of supporters to help us get ready for our biggest year of impact yet.”
