KidSport Ontario – Events and Marketing Intern

KidSport Ontario is the provincial arm of KidSport Canada, a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance kids aged 18 and under. Through a confidential application process, KidSport provides grants that enable kids to play a season of sport through assistance with sport registration fees and equipment costs. KidSport believes that the power of sport participation promotes the development of children's social, mental, and physical wellbeing. Through increasing access to quality sport programs, KidSport strengthens communities across Ontario.

We are hiring a post-secondary student for a 12-week contract, starting May 2025. The successful applicant will work closely with the Executive Director on on-going fundraising events and marketing projects that fit within the following priority areas:

Fundraising Event Support  

The right-hand of the Executive Director, you’ll be asked to support by:

  • Attending a set number of fundraising events to assist with set up and take down of marketing materials
  • Engage with partner organizations during events to enhance KidSport’s presence
  • Liaise with volunteers on schedules and responsibilities
  • Track and analyze fundraising goals and donations
  • Assist local chapters with event support as requested

Social Media 

Expand organization’s existing social media presence by:

  • Using your creative flare to develop engaging content
  • Expanding on current network and exploring new avenues for connections
  • Engaging with followers in manner consistent with organization’s values and voice
  • Track analytics and respond accordingly

Website Management  

As the core hub for all of the organization’s information, nurture the website by:

  • Keeping news and events pages up-to-date
  • Review chapter websites for edits and updates
  • Ensuring functionality of donation and application pages


What you will bring to the role 

Vibrant communicator

  • Clear and concise written (email) and verbal (phone, in person) skills
  • Ability to manage confidential communication with care
  • Confident with public speaking
  • French language an asset

Engaging storyteller

  • Experience in developing creative and written content for social media
  • Understand the impact of telling a story to pull in the audience
  • Confidence in using social media platforms for communication (FB, Twitter, IG, LinkedIn, Buffer, Canva, etc.)

Passion for children’s causes

  • Believes in providing service to support positive development in children and youth
  • Understands the value of charitable work in local communities
  • History of participation in sport is considered a strong asset

Willingness to learn

  • You’ll get hands-on experiences with a number of marketing platforms and programs
  • You’ll learn how to manage fundraising events to maximize an organization’s presence and results
  • You’ll see inside a charitable non-profit, and understand the impact that this sector has on the population at large

Individual skills

  • Highly organized, ambitious, and energetic
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with WordPress an asset

Successful candidate will be a currently enrolled student in an accredited post-secondary institution (college or university) with an interest in Business & Marketing, Public Policy, Youth and Child Services, and/or Physical Activity & Sport, and be located in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
Access to laptop/computer required. Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle would be valuable.

35 hours per week
$18/hour
12 week contract
Hybrid role - 80% work-from-home / 20% on-site at fundraising events
