Team KidSport - Carson Lambos and Zach Benson

KidSport Manitoba is thrilled to announce that Team KidSport has added two new players to the roster - Carson Lambos and Zach Benson of the Winnipeg ICE! Carson and Zach join our team of local Manitoban athletes that help us continue to strive towards our goal of getting kids off the sidelines, and into the game.

Since 2016, KidSport Manitoba has granted out over $1.5 million to give more than 6,000 kids the opportunity to experience the joys and triumphs of organized sport. Carson knows that sport can provide youth with so much more than just physical activity, “I’ve made so many lifelong friends through sport. Of course, I have been very fortunate to get a career out of hockey too, but the friendships and bonds I’ve made have been so special to me.”   Zach credits hockey for his long-term friendships as well, with a nod to all the fun he has had along the way, “KidSport is extremely important to me, as well as our community. All kids should have the opportunity to experience the fun and friendships that sport has brought me.”

But don’t let all the fun and friendships fool you - both Lambos and Benson are heating up in their hockey careers. Lambos, in his fourth season with the ICE, and Captain this year, is a first round pick, 26th overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2021 NHL Draft. The draft was a highlight so far in Lambos’ career, something he dreamt of his entire life and was lucky enough to share the moment with his family.

Benson is currently in his third season with the ICE and is projected to be a first round selection in this summer’s 2023 NHL Draft. Until then, Benson recalls his first WHL goal versus the Swift Current Broncos as the peak of his time playing hockey.
