The KidSport Basketball Camp – Hosted by Chad and Justus

In the heart of Winnipeg, where the winters are cold but the basketball spirit burns bright, the Winnipeg Sea Bears’ Chad Posthumus and Justus Alleyn hosted a basketball camp like no other. Welcome to the KidSport Basketball Camp, where passion, skill, and community unite to create unforgettable experiences for young athletes.

Chad Posthumus and Justus Alleyn, beloved figures in the Winnipeg basketball scene, brought their expertise and enthusiasm to the KidSport Basketball Camp as hosts and mentors. With Chad’s towering presence on the court and Justus’s finesse in shooting, the dynamic duo inspired campers to dream big and reach for the stars.

The KidSport Basketball Camp was separated into two age groups. Kids aged 7 to 9 made up our first group, while kids aged 10 to 12 made up the second. With the help of Basketball Manitoba and some excellent seasoned instructors, boys and girls from both groups were able to work on skill development while mastering the fundamentals of shooting, dribbling, and refining their defensive footwork. Every dribble, pass, and shot was an opportunity for growth and improvement.

To make the camp a success, we needed a corporate partner. Thank you to The Royal Bank of Canada for stepping onto the court with us! Volunteers from RBC guided the kids from drill to drill and helped keep the camp running smoothly. We couldn’t be more thankful for your support to us and our communities.

The camp was not just about drills and exercises. Whether it was a friendly scrimmage with Chad and Justus or a game of Monkey in the Middle, campers were encouraged to unleash their creativity and embrace the joy of the game. This infused the camp with tremendous energy, creativity, and fun.

Chad, Justus, and the instructors served as positive role models and mentors and instilled values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance in every interaction they had with the young participants.

In a city where basketball is an increasingly popular sport, it’s becoming a way of life for many. Chad and Justus’s KidSport Basketball Camp was a shining example of passion, community, and leadership. At KidSport Manitoba, we feel so privileged to have monitors like Chad Posthumus and Justus Alleyn! As well as the support from organizations like Basketball Manitoba and RBC. Together, we found a way to get more kids off the sideline and into the game!
