Sport has been more than just a game to me or something to do with the spare time I have, it has been a source of strength, discipline, and opportunity. Growing up, it provided me with a sense of belonging and a way to push through challenges, including the adversity I faced as a minority in predominantly white spaces. Sports taught me resilience, teamwork, and confidence, shaping who I am today. Beyond competition, it has been a platform for connection, empowerment, and breaking barriers. I know firsthand how important it is to have a passion that drives you forward, regardless of the obstacles in your way.
Why did you become a KidSport Ambassador?
I became a KidSport Ambassador because I want to make a lasting impact on young athletes, especially those who may feel that their background or skin colour is a barrier to playing or being good at sports. Representation matters, and I want kids to see that they belong in sports just as much as anyone else. No child should be denied the opportunity to play. Through KidSport, I can help ensure that every child gets the chance to experience the benefits of sports—building confidence, friendships, and a belief in themselves. My goal is to inspire young athletes to chase their dreams fearlessly, knowing that their passion and dedication are what truly define them, not the colour of their skin.
