How Do I Apply?

Find a school sport, club sport, community sport, group sport or individual sport program your kid would like to join and then register them for it (Note: Sports Camps are not funded).

Apply for a KidSport Grant with the required 3 documents listed below. You can apply online or use the paper application form and submit by e-mail, mail or fax, before the program end date.

Your completed application will be processed within 30 days of being received.

If you qualify for KidSport funding, the grant will be sent directly to the sport program, and you are then reimbursed (if you paid upfront for the program).

When applying, it is required to submit:
KidSport’s ‘So ALL Kids Can Play!’ Application, filled out.

To be eligible for the KidSport Edmonton Grant Program, each applicant must:
-Meet the financial qualifications (LICO Scale, 30% column).
-Already be registered in the sport program you are applying for.
-Be 18 years old or under.
-Live within the Edmonton City limits.

Applicants can receive up to $250 per eligible child, per calendar year (January 1st - December 31st) towards sport registration, except ice hockey fees. The full $250 can be used for one grant application, or the $250 grant can be split over multiple applications.
Note: Ice Hockey registration fees, for the 2022-2023 season, will be covered in full per eligible child. Thank you to the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation. If you would like to learn more, please check out the website by clicking Here.
The program (sport season or set of sessions) must provide a sustained sport experience led by qualified instructors, with clear start and end dates (Note: Sports Camps are not funded).
KidSport Edmonton grants do not cover equipment and transportation; they only support youth registration fees for a sport season or set of sessions.
There is a section within the grant application to request sports equipment. Please complete this section if you would like to request help with providing sporting equipment.

Grants are DECLINED if:
-The sport program is a City-run Program (Edmonton hosts low-cost sport options).
-The kid has used their full $250 for the calendar year.
-The application request is not for sport (i.e. piano lessons).
-The family does not financially qualify (based off the LICO scale, plus 30%).
-The Program is a sport camp.
-The sport has ended.
