Information on kidsport's grant program:
How Do I Apply?
Find a sport program your kid would like to join and sign up.
Let the program’s administrators know you will be applying for KidSport funding.
Apply for the KidSport Program online or use the paper application form & apply by mail, fax or e-mail.
Your completed application will be processed within 30 days of being received.
If you qualify for KidSport funding, the grant will be sent directly to the sport program your kid has signed up for.
To be eligible for the KidSport Program, each applicant must:
Must meet the financial qualifications (LICO Scale, 30% column, below)
Already be registered in a sport (within City limits)
Be 18 years old or younger
Living within the City limits
Apply for school sport, club sport, community sport, group sport, individual sport, from any 40 of the sports below
Grants are up to $250 per child/year, at a maximum of $125 per application
The program must provide a sustained sport experience led by qualified instructors, with clear start and end dates
Applications are reviewed and approved within 30 days
Cheques always go to the sport club, the family is then reimbursed (if the family paid upfront for the program)
KidSport Edmonton grants do not cover equipment, transportation, or anything but support for youth sport registration fees
Grants are only declined if:
The sport program is a City-run Programs (Edmonton host’s low-cost sport options
The kids have used their full $250 for the calendar year
The application request is not for sport (i.e. piano, not a sport = not funded)
The family does not financially qualify (based off the LICO scale, plus 30%)
The sport camp is not a 100% sport camp
The sport has ended
The sport is being conducted on an online platform (such as Zoom classes)
When applying, it is required to submit:
KidSport’s ‘So ALL Kids Can Play!’ Application, filled out
Proof of sport program registration (registration receipt)
Proof of financial status, by submitting one of the following:
… 2019 Notice of Assessment (Needed for ALL adults in home),
Canada child Benefits Letter, tax year 2019 Page 1 & 2,
Alberta Health Benefits Letter,
Income support documents,
Subsidized housing Letter,
Copy of a City of Edmonton Leisure Access Pass Receipt OR
Endorsement letter, on letterhead from a Principal/Social Worker/Success Coach. AND...
*Due to the economic impacts of Covid-19, until December 31, 2020 KidSport Edmonton will accept Proof of CERB with a screenshot of your CRA ‘My Account’ CERB payment schedule an is required for all adults within the home.
